Raleigh Wide Open’s Debut Music Festival Announces October 3–4, 2025 dates

RALEIGH, NC — The Raleigh Wide Open Music Festival is set to debut in downtown Raleigh on October 3–4, 2025, and will feature 35 free shows across six stages. Presented by PineCone, the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, the festival honors North Carolina's rich musical heritage while embracing its evolving innovative spirit.

A New Era Begins

Following the conclusion of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) World of Bluegrass festival in Raleigh, PineCone has revitalized the "Raleigh Wide Open" name as a nod to the city's past festivals and a symbol of its ongoing cultural vibrancy. The 2025 festival promises to be a free, family-friendly event that will also feature food trucks, craft vendors, beer gardens, and more.

Musical Lineup

The festival will showcase a diverse array of artists across six free outdoor stages along Fayetteville Street, between City Plaza and the State Capitol. Performers include: Balsam Range, Dom Flemons, Jim Lauderdale, Sonny Miles, Big Fat Gap, Blue Cactus, Cabin Creature, and many others. Performances will span genres such as bluegrass, Americana, gospel, and folk, reflecting the festival's commitment to showcasing diverse musical traditions.

Community and Cultural Focus

The 2025 festival will also place a special emphasis on artists and craftspeople from the 26 North Carolina counties most affected by Hurricane Helene. This initiative aims to support and highlight the resilience and creativity of communities impacted by the storm. Additionally, the festival will feature a "Field Trip Festival" program on Friday morning, inviting students from downtown schools to experience the music and culture firsthand.

Evening Concerts at Red Hat Amphitheater

In addition to the free street festival, two ticketed evening concerts will be held at the Red Hat Amphitheater. These performances will offer festival-goers an opportunity to enjoy more intimate and extended sets from select artists. Details about the evening lineup will be announced in the coming months.
